Fabulous Geoffrey Beene Set that is a testament ot what can be achieved with the choice of fabric! It looks like it should be heavy but the set is shockingly light in weight. The chenille used in a very fine and light - almost more like a silk velvet but with the texture of chenille. The silk taffeta used with it is also very fine grade and it has been hand painted with gold, has voided squares of applied velvet and a crumpled texture deliberately worked into it. It is quite beautiful! The dress is a simple tank suspended by silk ribbon piping. The jacket is over sized as was typical at this time period with a loose an easy cut. The chenille lines the jacket and it is so well done that if not for the inner labels you could flip it inside out and wear it either way! Really remarkable in person! Excellent, appears unworn condition.

Unlined and slips on. The jacket has gold metal buttons to close.
